Liverpool fans may not be all that disappointed to see the international break arrive, given their side’s continued poor form in the Premier League.

The Reds’ hopes of a Champions League place next season remain in the balance after Saturday’s defeat to Brighton, and even with Chelsea also slipping up, it’s hard to imagine Arne Slot’s side maintaining across three fronts.

With no domestic action over the next week or so, there will no doubt be a rise in the transfer speculation surrounding the club ahead of the summer. One familiar name is making the headlines again, with Liverpool said to be stepping up talks.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid)

Liverpool is leading the race for Eduardo Camavinga, with Caught Offside claiming that the Reds have held fresh talks with the player’s representatives.

The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid in the summer, with it being suggested that the Spanish giant is ready to listen to offers - even for as little as €50 million ($58M).

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are said to have had fresh contact with those close to Camavinga, with the strongest interest coming from Anfield. The Reds are said to have now held two separate meetings with the player’s entourage, with the possibility of formal negotiations with Real Madrid in the near future.

Liverpool.com says: There is a lot of noise around Camavinga at the moment. One thing to bear in mind is that a lot of the rumors around a potential transfer have been coming from not the most reliable sources.

Having said that, if there is a chance of a deal being done for him, then Liverpool would be silly to not at least consider it. It's become clear this season that the Reds could do with some more legs in midfield, and potentially someone to free up Ryan Gravenberch.

Ronald Araujo (Barcelona)

Liverpool remains attentive to Ronald Araujo’s situation at Barcelona amid a belief that there could be an opening to sign the defender, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The Reds reportedly think that Araujo’s reduced role under Hansi Flick at the Nou Camp could open the door, with a relatively low salary by Premier League standards also working in their favor.

An offer of around €35M ($41M) has been touted, with Bayern Munich and Inter Milan also said to have shown an interest. However, Araujo has shown no desire to leave Barcelona.

Liverpool.com says: Araujo has been linked with a move to Liverpool - and other Premier League sides for that matter - in the past, so this is nothing new.

As tempting as that price tag might seem, you would have question why his role seems to have been reduced at Barca. He has made just 12 starts this season, and that might ring some alarm bells about his suitability to walk into a team that wants to be playing at the same level as Barcelona.
