Liverpool transfer news as Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon is linked with a move to Anfield again, and a winger currently impressing in France is supposedly wanted

Liverpool thought that it might have turned a corner midweek against Galatasaray, but in the end, it was unable to build on that with a dismal second half against Brighton.
While there were injuries that didn't help, Liverpool will need to refresh its roster in the summer and this was the latest reminder. In attack, it was distinctly lacking ideas. Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike's absence was clearly felt.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with a familiar name among the speculation in recent seasons, before moving onto a completely new one.

Liverpool would be willing to allow Cody Gakpo to leave should it be able to bring in a replacement this summer, with Anthony Gordon among those said to be under consideration.
That is according to TeamTalk, at least, which reports that Gordon has plenty of admirers at Anfield.
Liverpool has tried to sign the Newcastle winger before, of course, agreeing a deal in principle that would have seen Joe Gomez head the other way back in the summer of 2024, when the Magpies needed to free up PSR space and sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh instead.

That, though, was some time ago. Gordon signed a new contract in the North East not long after and Liverpool spent the whole of last summer trying — eventually successfully — to get Alexander Isak signed.
Isak, however, had to push his way towards the exit door and a similar scenario this time around would be best avoided. Another summer saga is not what anyone wants or needs.
Liverpool.com says: Gordon is a good player and the kind of target that Liverpool should go after: a top-class winger capable of big output. He would also come with the advantage of being homegrown.
Maghnes Akliouche
In the same report as above, it is claimed that Liverpool is also in for a right-sided forward this summer, with $58 million (£43 million) rated AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche, who has just been called up for the senior French national team, one such option.
The 24-year-old has scored six goals and laid on another seven for his teammates so far this season. Akliouche has Champions League experience and could be on the cusp of taking the next step in his career.

Manchester United and Tottenham have both been linked with Akliouche as well in the last few weeks. It appears that he could be highly sought after when the season comes to an end and the summer market opens.
Liverpool.com says: It makes sense for the Reds to look to sign more than one winger this summer. Arne Slot's roster is lacking in quality in those areas at the moment and an extra injection of pace would make a massive difference.
