Liverpool transfer news as fresh Marc Guehi plan emerges and Argentine wonderkid 'tracked'

2 weeks ago 47

Liverpool fell to a fourth defeat in a row in all competitions when facing Manchester United this weekend, with plenty of issues to solve in defense and attack for Arne Slot.

No doubt, the turnover of players in the summer window for Liverpool has led to teething problems. While Slot won't be panicking, there, in a purely soccer sense, is the most difficult period of his tenure by some distance.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with the latest on Marc Guehi, who is once again being linked with a move to Anfield and elsewhere.

Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)

This week, Oliver Glasner confirmed that Guehi has told Crystal Palace that he definitely won't be signing a new contract. That, of course, is no surprise.

Guehi, now firmly established as an England international, nearly moved to Liverpool on deadline day, only for Crystal Palace to pull the plug when it failed to find a suitable replacement.

Next year, the Reds are expected to go back in for him when he will be a free agent. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid have also been speculated as potential destinations in recent weeks.

According to The i Paper, however, Crystal Palace is leaning towards selling Guehi in January as long as it can sign someone else. That would remove the need to lose him for nothing.

Bayern Munich, in particular, is said to be interested in a move. There is an argument that Liverpool, having lost Giovanni Leoni to a long-term injury, should fast-forward a deal too.

Liverpool.com says: Guehi is a very good Premier League-proven defender. He is homegrown and on a free would make lots of sense. In January, a low enough asking price could also prove tempting.

Dylan Tomas Gorosito (Boca Juniors)

Liverpool scouts are said to have been left very impressed by the 19-year-old Boca Juniors right-back Dylan Tomas Gorosito and will continue to track his progress, Rousing The Kop claims.

The teenager has been representing Argentina at the U20 World Cup in Chile and could play in the final against Morocco tomorrow. A move directly to Anfield, though, would be further down the line.

Neither Conor Bradley nor Jeremie Frimpong has been 100 percent convincing so far this season for Liverpool. Signing such a young player from South America, however, would hardly represent a plug-and-play transfer.

Liverpool.com says: The South American market is something that the Reds could look to more often. There is risk attached, but the likes of Moises Caicedo have made the switch successfully.

It can save plenty of money by avoiding the middleman (a team like Brighton or Benfica). Liverpool could look to do something like that more often in the future.
