Liverpool transfer news as Marc Guehi makes stance clear and 'contact' made over shock sale

2 hours ago 26

All of the focus might be on Mohamed Salah at the moment, but that’s not the only transfer Liverpool might have its eye on at the moment.

The Egyptian’s future is in serious doubt following his outburst against the club and Arne Slot, with Salah having suggested he could play his final game for Liverpool this week - if he hasn’t already, that is.

With the January window just a few weeks away now, a departure could be on the cards for the 33-year-old, but he’s not the only Reds star being linked with a move away, while the club might have its eyes on bringing in some more players.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds on Thursday.

Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)

Marc Guehi has no intention of forcing through a move away from Crystal Palace during the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.

The 25-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season, with Liverpool hotly tipped to make another move for him after a deadline day switch collapsed at the eleventh hour during the summer.

But while January represents Palace's last opportunity to make any money from a sale, it's suggested that Guehi is happy to wait until the summer and won't make any efforts to push for a transfer, despite reported interest from a number of clubs.

Liverpool.com says: To Guehi's credit, he has acted professionally throughout his transfer saga, which is part of the reason why he will be so attractive to Liverpool and a host of other clubs.

It might be a question of whether Palace - or perhaps Oliver Glasner - is willing to let him go in January. If they have their sights set on qualifying for Europe again, and perhaps even winning the Conference League, then you'd have to imagine Guehi would be firmly part of those plans.

Alisson Becker (Liverpool to AC Milan)

AC Milan has made contact with Alisson Becker's representatives as it sets its sights on signing the Liverpool goalkeeper next summer, according to Sky Sports Switzerland.

It's claimed that the Reds are open to a transfer for the 33-year-old, despite Alisson being the number one keeper at the club. His contract at Anfield runs until the end of the current season, although Liverpool has the option of a further year should it choose to trigger it.

Alisson Becker still fully backs Arne Slot as Liverpool's head coach.

Alisson Becker has been linked with a move away from Liverpool

Milan is said to be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to replace Mike Maignan, who is set to leave the San Siro at the end of his contract in the summer.

Liverpool.com says: Nope. No way. Even if he is injury-prone, Alisson is still the best goalkeeper around, and Liverpool shouldn't be entertaining the idea of selling him in the summer.

It might be the case that he'll leave Anfield at the end of his contract, which would be a shame. Yes, he is 33, and would be 34 by the time that final year comes to an end, but goalkeepers should be treated as a unique case, which means not necessarily offloading him just because he's the wrong side of 30.
