Liverpool transfer news as the Reds are reportedly eyeing up the "next Kylian Mbappe" while Christian Pulisic could be an option as the AC Milan star waits for an offer

Liverpool will be hoping it isn’t made to regret not bringing in any new signings during the January transfer window.

The Reds did of course complete a deal for Jeremy Jacquet, although the Rennes defender won’t be making the move to Anfield until the summer - and he might not be arriving in the best condition, given he’s already picked up an injury.

There’s plenty of work still to be done this season, and Arne Slot already knows what effect missing out on the Champions League could have on any summer business, which might include deals for a couple of forwards if the latest reports are anything to go by.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the latest transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds...

Christian Pulisic (AC Milan)

Liverpool is interested in Christian Pulisic, with the AC Milan star still waiting for a new contract over in Italy, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The USMNT winger is said to have been expecting an offer already this season, although Milan has not made any formal proposal. Pulisic’s current deal expires in 2027, although Milan does have the option of another year.

A move back to the Premier League could be in the offing though, with the Reds and Arsenal both said to be interested.

Liverpool.com says: At 27, Pulisic doesn't really fit in with the age profile of players Liverpool seems to be targeting. At best, you'd probably be looking at getting three or four years out of him.

Still, he has impressed during his time in Italy, and he might be in the running for a move back to the Premier League after previously struggling at Chelsea. Where have we heard that before?

Eli Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth)

Liverpool is keeping a close eye on Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, according to Caught Offside. The 19-year-old is claimed to have also caught the attention of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Bournemouth signed Kroupi last year from Lorient, and the teenager has attracted plenty of attention with eight goals in 20 Premier League appearances this season. He has been likened to Kylian Mbappe by one of his former teammates (as per the Premier League).

According to the report, Kroupi could set Liverpool back as much as £80 million ($109M), and with his contract running until 2030, it wouldn’t be easy to get a deal over the line.

Liverpool.com says: Kroupi does look an exciting prospect, but it might be a little too early to be discussing a move to the likes of Liverpool or Madrid.

Certainly, at this stage, $109M seems far too steep for a player with only 20 Premier League appearances under his belt. He's certainly worth keeping an eye on to see if he follows in the same footsteps as some of Bournemouth's previous stars.
