What was already shaping up to be an important summer for Liverpool has just got even bigger after Mohamed Salah’s bombshell announcement this week.

With the Egyptian bringing his nine-year spell at Anfield to a close at the end of the season, the Reds will have a major job on their hands as they look for a replacement for their main goal-getter over the past few years.

Already, a number of names have emerged as potential options, and with Salah’s early exit potentially benefiting Liverpool, despite him leaving on a free transfer, the club may look to go big on his replacement.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)

Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande has been confirmed by David Ornstein, who has told The Athletic FC podcast that the Reds have been keen on the RB Leipzig star “for some time”.

Diomande is one of the names being touted as a possible replacement for Salah this summer, with the 19-year-old enjoying a superb debut season in Germany.

Ornstein claims that finances for the teenager have previously been out of reach for Liverpool, with other clubs in the same position. With Salah on his way out now though, it’s suggested that the process to find a replacement will "ramp up".

Liverpool.com says: Diomande should be among the names being considered by Liverpool this summer. He looks almost certain to land a big move soon, so it would only make sense for the Reds to make sure they're in the mix.

Signing someone as young as he is to replace someone like Salah though does feel like it would be a bit of a risk. If Liverpool is looking at signing more than one winger, then Diomande should be an option, but a more experienced player might be the way to go on the right.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (PSG)

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is open to a move away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to The Independent. The news comes as the Georgia international is once again being linked with Liverpool.

Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that there is “appreciation” from the Reds for Kvaratskhelia, along with his PSG teammates Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue.

And the door may be open to the 25-year-old, with The Independent reporting that Kvaratskhelia’s camp is open to the idea of a move as Arsenal investigates the possibility of a deal. It is also pointed out though that PSG would take a “hardline” approach on the player.

Liverpool.com says: A move for Kvaratskhelia would be very appealing. It's no secret Liverpool has had its eye on him before, and if he's open to a move away from PSG, it would be silly not to at least ask the question.

Seeing Arsenal exploring the possibility does bring back horrible memories of Martin Zubimendi heading to north London though. Fingers crossed the Gunners aren't about to get another one over on the Reds.
