The January transfer window is in full swing, with the Premier League’s first deals now confirmed.
The Reds have also seen one move already completed, with James Norris joining Shelbourne. So far, there has been first-team movement, though, even if there is no shortage of rumors.
Ifeanyi Ndukwe has dominated headlines over the last few days, with a report in The Athletic claiming the Reds are in talks to sign the teenage defender. He’s not the only young center-back being linked with Liverpool, as Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez reportedly remains a target this month.
Another rapidly developing story is that of Harvey Elliott, who joined Aston Villa on loan last summer but has struggled to secure a regular place in the team.
Unai Emery admitted on Friday that he does not have a future at Villa, meaning his next steps look uncertain. The midfielder has even been linked with a shock move to Major League Soccer.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah is a reported transfer target for Roma, while Yisa Alao, Yan Diomande and Rodrygo are among those mentioned in recent rumors.

'Transfer fee hasn't affected Wirtz'
Jeremie Frimpong has said the £116 million ($156M) price that Liverpool paid for Florian Wirtz last summer has not impacted the German, despite the intense media scrutiny he has faced.
“I think Flo is the type of player that he doesn’t care about these things, the price tag,” the Dutch international told reporters at Anfield in midweek.
“He's just happy to play football. For me personally, I think Flo takes pressure really well. He's just a guy that just loves the ball on his feet. When he plays, he's just enjoying. So for me, I don't think he cares about all this. Of course, on the outside, what was it, £116m? I don’t think he cares about all that. He knows how good he is. He just wants to play.”

Semenyo latest
Antonie Semenyo is set to feature for Bournemouth against Arsenal later today, despite reportedly being on the verge of completing a move to Manchester City. The winger, who was a Liverpool transfer target, will be available for Bournemouth’s next two matches, head coach Andoni Iraola confirmed yesterday.
“Yes, Antoine is going to play in this match,” said the Spaniard. “I think the idea at least that he's going to be available in these two home games in a short turnaround. I hope he can be here for more time. But I don't know what's going to be happen.
“There is nothing signed. For sure there are conversations, I understand the noise around but Antoine is our player. I hope to keep him for a lot of time, I want to keep him for a lot of time. But I don't know what's going to happen.”

Elliott's US option
Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC could offer Elliott a possible solution. The Daily Mail claims it is interested in signing the midfielder, which would provide him with the opportunity to play every week. Former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is in charge at the North Carolina side, which could help facilitate a short-term deal, and the club is said to have “secured the discovery rights” for the player.

What next for Elliott?
When Elliott’s loan was agreed last summer, no break clause was inserted into the deal, meaning there is no option to cancel the loan this month. He could, therefore, remain at Villa without playing for the remainder of the campaign, or fresh terms could be hashed out between Liverpool and Villa to secure his return to Merseyside. For that to happen, the Reds would likely receive a fee.
Elliott cannot join another European side this season due to FIFA’s rules about representing three clubs in one campaign, and a move to a club on another continent is the only other possibility for the 22-year-old.

Elliott future
Unai Emery admitted on Friday that Aston Villa decided two months ago that it would not look to pursue a permanent deal for Harvey Elliott, who is loan from Liverpool.
"The problem we have with Harvey is that this year he is on loan, and in case he plays matches we must buy him," said the Villa boss. "We decided two months ago that we are not convinced to sign him, spending the money we would need to sign him.
"This is the only issue. He is training every day, always every day with very good behaviour and to help us in training sessions. "This is not something good for him and good for us, but this is football and sometimes we must take some decisions which are not good for everyone."

$58M Ordonez deal
Liverpool is set to sign Joel Ordonez from Club Brugge in the coming days, according to the Mirror. The outlet claims the Reds could part with as much as £43million ($58M) to secure the defender’s services after Chelsea pulled out of the race.

Ndukwe 'talks'
Friday’s biggest story was surrounding Ifeanyi Ndukwe. The Athletic claimed Liverpool is in talks to sign the 17-year-old center-back, who would join Rob Page’s Under-21 roster, with the aim of holding down a first-team role in the years to come. Ndukwe, who is yet to make his senior debut for Austria Vienna, would not move until the summer, by which point he would be 18.
