Liverpool has been encouraged to snap up Jarrod Bowen, a player previously praised by Jurgen Klopp.

The West Ham skipper has been linked with the Reds multiple times in the past, and despite his team's current struggles, the 29-year-old continues to impress. The Hammers, currently languishing in 18th place in the Premier League following a 3-0 defeat to Wolves, have seen Bowen emerge as their standout performer amid a calamitous season.

With the threat of relegation looming, the forward may be compelled to look elsewhere, particularly if he hopes to secure a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the World Cup.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster believes Bowen would be a perfect fit at Anfield under Arne Slot. On the Fozcast podcast, the former Watford and Wrexham keeper stated: "He could honestly play for quite a lot of teams.

"He could play for Liverpool quite happily, and he would suit Liverpool down to the ground. You'd get three or four years out of him at the same level and intensity.

"The reason why he's always with England, and he's always selected, is because he's a good lad, he does it properly, he works hard, and he's got real quality.

"Somebody would have him if he left West Ham, and he would make them a better team. I don't care who it is."

The Reds are unlikely to listen to Foster's recommendation due to Bowen's age and contractual situation. The forward turns 30 later this year and remains under contract with West Ham for another four-and-a-half years, meaning he won't come cheap.

But Foster's effusive praise for Bowen mirrors the admiration previously shown by Slot's predecessor at Liverpool, Klopp. The German manager openly expressed his respect for the West Ham star on multiple occasions.

Ahead of a Carabao Cup fixture between the Reds and the Hammers in December 2023, Klopp declared Bowen as "probably my favorite player besides my players". He subsequently added: "It's just great what he's doing and how he develops."

These comments built upon earlier compliments from the former Liverpool manager in November 2021.

At that time, Klopp remarked: "I like Bowen a lot. He made his way up from Hull and took not too long to get there, to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League as well."

Just a few months afterwards, Klopp stated: "Bowen, what a player he became, unbelievable. We saw him as well at Hull, and he was really good that time, but I'm not sure a lot of people expected this jump.

"Unbelievable player."
