Liverpool vs Barnsley LIVE: Latest from Anfield, team news, FA Cup fourth-round draw

5 hours ago 3

Liverpool returns to Anfield for the first time in 11 days when it takes on Barnsley in the FA Cup.

The clash with the Yorkshire club is the last of the third-round weekend, although the postponed fixture between Salford City and Swindon Town will be played next week.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Crystal Palace have already been eliminated from the competition, and Liverpool will be keen to avoid an embarrassing FA Cup shock for the second year in a row.

The Reds were dumped out by Plymouth Argyle last term and the competition this season represents Liverpool’s best chance of silverware.

Liverpool is lacking options, however, for Monday’s game, with Conor Bradley the latest name added to the club’s extensive injury list. Despite that, it remains huge favorite to progress to the next round.

Meanwhile, opposition head coach Conor Hourihane faces the biggest challenge of his coaching career to date. The 34-year-old only retired as a player a little over a year ago and last played against Liverpool in 2022.

Before the game, both sides will feature in the FA Cup fourth-round draw, which will take place from Anfield.
