Liverpool will have Alexander Isak available for a first Premier League game either side of Christmas, but Arne Slot still has several issues when selecting his side at Anfield

Liverpool will be without four players for Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Fulham.

The Reds sit five points clear of ninth-place Fulham heading into an awkwardly scheduled showdown that is sandwiched between the Champions League double header against Paris Saint-Germain.

As a result, there is an expectation that Arne Slot may look to rotate this side, with the likes of Andy Robertson, Curtis Jones, Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumha among the possible alterations to start Saturday’s game at Anfield. However, one position that won’t see any changes is in nets, with Giorgi Mamardashvili set to continue in place of the injured Alisson.

“We don't get the player back yet but Alisson is working hard to get his way back. He won't be in this weekend,” Slot said in Friday’s press conference.

The Brazilian has missed the last three Liverpool games, and despite being on the losing side in all of those encounters, Mamardashvili has put in impressive performances.

Alisson is joined on the sidelines by Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo, all of whom will not feature again this season.

However, the positive news on the injury front in recent weeks has been the return of Alexander Isak from a near four-month layoff.

The £125 million ($168M) man came off the bench in the midweek loss in Paris and will provide additional attacking options for Slot in the final weeks of the season.

“That Alex is available for us again is vital, of course,” said the Liverpool head coach ahead of the Fulham clash.

“I said many times, it was hard for us to convert chances into goals. He has been a goalscorer for his whole life.

“He did not get a chance against Paris, but in all the other games, we had chances.

Marco Silva and Arne Slot

Arne Slot has yet to beat Marco Silva in three previous meetings

"To have him back is really nice. It was only 15 minutes, but it is good to have him back, and hopefully we can progress his minutes.

“Hopefully, he can grow to his form as soon as possible, but the last time, it took a while.

“That is normal, but now we are hoping that after the rehab period, we can bring him faster to the level we want him to be at.”

Isak is unlikely to start on Saturday, but could be handed minutes off the bench once again. As for Fulham, it is without Kenny Tete, Harrison Reed and Kevin for the clash at Anfield.
