Following his Tottenham Hotspur debut, youngster Luca Williams-Barnett has now broken a club record in the Carabao Cup.
Every supporter loves to see a homegrown youngster step up from the academy into the first team, carrying the hope of becoming the next big success story for the club.
Tottenham have seen that before with Harry Kane, who rose through the youth ranks before going on to smash records and establish himself as one of the best strikers in the world.
Now another name has emerged, as 16-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett was handed his debut for Tottenham in the Carabao Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers, marking a fresh moment of promise for the academy.
Luca Williams-Barnett sets Tottenham Carabao Cup record
Although not the youngest ever Tottenham debutant, Williams-Barnett still etched his name into the club’s history books with his short cameo in the League Cup.
As confirmed by Tottenham’s official website, his substitute appearance in the third round against Doncaster made him the youngest player ever to feature for the club in the Carabao Cup.
At 16 years, 11 months and 24 days, he overtook Stephen Carr, who previously held the record after appearing against Burnley in September 1993 at 17 years and 24 days.

What Spurs fans can expect from Williams-Barnett
Even though he was introduced in the 87th minute and did not manage to get on the scoresheet, Williams-Barnett has already shown his quality at the youth level.
The teenager has been in excellent form in the academy, scoring six goals and providing four assists in just seven appearances, which explains why Spurs supporters were keen to see the youngster get his chance in the Carabao Cup.
The aim now will be for Williams-Barnett to continue his progress, build on this debut and in time, develop into a regular in Tottenham’s first team.
