Liverpool forward Luis Diaz is set to join Bayern Munich. And his wife, Gera Ponce, might have hinted that a move was on the cards at the end of last season with a heartfelt message she posted on social media.
Diaz scored 17 goals for the Reds in Arne Slot's first campaign at the helm. The Colombian, though, only had two years left on his contract at Anfield and made it clear that he felt it was a good time to move on.
Bayern Munich will be paying up to $88 million (£66 million) for Diaz's services, which represents a profit of around $30 million (£23 million) on the fee that Liverpool paid FC Porto, including the add-ons that were triggered, after his last move in January 2022.
"To the incredible Liverpool fans. From the first day we arrived, we felt firsthand what it means to be a part of this club," Ponce wrote on Instagram at the end of last season.
"We knew the slogan was 'You’ll Never Walk Alone', but to hear them sing it with so much passion, support each other at every moment and show such unconditional love... confirmed to us that here you never walk alone.
"This fan doesn't just support, it feels. And what you have made my boyfriend and our entire family feel is something we carry in our souls.
"Thank you for so much love, for so much dedication and for making us feel at home. Being a part of this fan is a privilege. There's no doubt: they're the best in the world.
"This is a real bond, deep and strong, that reaffirms that we'll never walk alone."
That certainly read like a goodbye message, even at the time. Diaz's dream move was often said to be Barcelona, while there was interest in his signature from Saudi Arabia too.
A switch to Bayern Munich came about after the German side missed out on signing Nico Williams from Athletic Club. Diaz is set to sign a four or five year contract with Vincent Kompany's side.

Diaz is currently in Japan with the majority of his Reds teammates. But he has been given permission to exit the camp and travel to meet up with Bayern Munich to complete a medical.
While Liverpool has spent big in the transfer window this summer, this latest deal will bring in another substantial sum. In total, since Richard Hughes took on the post of sporting director, the club has brought in around $255 million (£190 million) in sales.
Liverpool.com says: Diaz moving on is a shame in many ways, but the Reds got a good fee for him. A replacement will be needed, and he should do well for Bayern Munich, but the amount placed on the table was arguably too good to turn down.
