Luis Enrique Gets Honest About Premier League Teams Before PSG-Tottenham

PSG will host Tottenham Hotspur on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League group stage at the Parc des Princes, setting up a rematch of the 2025 UEFA Super Cup from August.

The Parisians enter the game after winning three of their first four group matches. Their only setback came on Matchday 4 against Bayern Munich, and Luis Enrique’s side will be eager to respond with a strong performance against Spurs on Wednesday.

Tottenham, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in the group stage, claiming two wins and two draws from their four matches. The Premier League club will aim to extend that run with a victory on the road against the Ligue 1 side.

On Tuesday, Luis Enrique spoke about facing another Premier League club this year. Since the start of 2025, PSG have faced Manchester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur (twice). Moreover, the only team to edge the capital club was Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

“It depends on each English team,” Enrique said about the physical style that comes with playing a Premier League team (h/t Culture PSG). “We know that, given the way they play, we will need to be ready to defend when we don’t have the ball. We know they like to play.

“There will also be set pieces, because for every foul during the match, they will play it long, and they are strong physically. They may be superior to us in this area, but we are used to it, because we look for players with individual technical quality rather than physical strength.

“But they also have technical quality, since they have many international players, almost all of them. It’s a top-level team, of course. I think we need to be ready to be competitive throughout the entire match.”
