Liverpool is not currently expected to get a move for Lutsharel Geertruida over the line despite looking into the prospect ahead of the transfer deadline.
After holding talks to see if it could happen, The Times reports that a deal for Geertruida is not currently viable because Sunderland did not want to lose him, even though he was open to the move. It was always one that would require several moving parts to fall into place, with the 25-year-old currently on loan with the Black Cats from RB Leipzig.
Geertruida is a versatile player who can fill in at right-back, center-back and in midfield. He worked with Arne Slot at Feyenoord. Liverpool has also been considering other options in the market, with the deadline set for 7pm UK time (2pm ET) on Monday.
