Madueke, Odegaard, Hincapie - Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Port Vale clash

2 hours ago 24

It’s a quick turnaround for Arsenal as games start to come thick and fast.

Mikel Arteta’s men are in Carabao Cup action for the first time this season on Wednesday night as they travel to the Midlands to take on League One side Port Vale in the third round of the competition.

Arsenal will be looking to avoid an upset and get through to the next round of the competition. The Carabao Cup is, however, sometimes seen as a chance for a manager to make some changes to his team amid a busy schedule.

Ahead of the game, Arteta and Arsenal have been given an injury blow with the news that winger Noni Madueke will face some time on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury during the 1-1 draw against Manchester City.

Speaking to the media earlier, Arteta gave an update on the England international as well as the latest on his squad.

With that in mind, here is a look at the latest news from the treatment room at the Sobha Reality training centre...

Noni Madueke

Injury: Knee.

What Arteta has said: “He’s going to be out for a few weeks. We don't really know yet, probably we're going to have to do a scan next week again. He felt something at the beginning of the match, he tried to carry on and half-time he was too sore, so that's it.

“As I said, we need to scan him again to see the real extent of the injury, but it doesn't look too bad.”

Possible return date: Unknown.

Piero Hincapie

Injury: Groin.

What Arteta has said: “He picked a little groin injury. We have to again assess him in the next few days how he goes. There's been a change of load and he didn't really have a pre-season after the injury. We'll have to see in the next week or so how he is.”

Potential return date: Vs West Ham, October 4 (H).

Kai Havertz

Injury: Knee.

What Arteta has said: “Well, with Kai we know that it will be months with him. I don't know if he can be weeks. You never know because this is Kai and he's a different specimen. He's progressing and we really miss him. Hopefully he'll be back and back for the long term as well, which is very important to look at suddenly. So far he's progressing really well.”

Potential return date: Unknown.

Martin Odegaard

Injury: Shoulder.

What Arteta has said: “If there is a chance, it will be after tomorrow's session, because they haven't done anything yet. So, we will have more information,” he said before the game against Man City at the weekend.

Potential return date: Vs Port Vale (A).

Gabriel Jesus

Injury Knee

What Arteta has said : “He had a major surgery - it was going to take him many, many months. After discussing with the medical staff and understanding the schedule, we thought that he could be available between December and January. Hopefully, we did it wrong, and he comes back earlier.”

Potential return date: Vs Everton, 20 December (A).
