A major music star has announced a huge show at the Etihad which is now currently the first confirmed concert set to take place at the revamped venue next year.

Earlier this month, The Weeknd announced a huge After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour which saw him unveil a string of dates across the continent, but the tour only initially included five UK dates - all taking place at the Wembley Stadium in London next August.

The Canadian singer, known for hits like Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears, has today unveiled seven extra dates across Europe and the UK, with a show at the Manchester City stadium set for June 11, 2026.

As it stands right now, this means that it is currently the first confirmed concert set to take place at the Eastlands venue following the scheduled completion of a £300m expansion, which will see 6,000 seats added to the North Stand.

Whilst a date has not yet been announced for when it will once again host attendees next year, Take That recently announced dates at the stadium for June 19, 20, 21 and July 1. Fans have also speculated whether Oasis could still be set to announce shows at the stadium next year.

For The Weeknd, tickets for the Manchester show will go on sale next week with a pre-sale opportunity for a select number of fans set to take place on Tuesday (October 14) from 12pm.

The pre-sale will be available to Mastercard holders, as well as members of The Weeknd’s mailing list and on Live Nation. There will also be a Nespresso pre-sale, from Thursday (October 16) at 12pm. General sale will begin from next Friday (October 17) at 12pm via Ticketmaster.

In addition to the newly-announced Manchester show, the singer has also announced new dates in Copenhagen, Munich, Lille, Paris, Barcelona and Lisbon. The major tour, which will take in 36 stadiums, will begin in Mexico on April 20 and is set to finish up in Portugal on September 5.

Only a limited number of tickets remain available for the previously-announced dates on the tour, which will celebrate The Weeknd’s acclaimed album trilogy made up of 2020’s After Hours, 2022’s Dawn FM, and this year’s release Hurry Up Tomorrow, as well as his biggest earlier hits.

The 2024 North American leg of the tour, which wrapped last month, a number of records. The Weeknd became the top-grossing Black male artist in history at venues in New York, Denver, Santa Clara, Seattle, Edmonton, Montreal, Orlando, Arlington, and Houston, and set the highest attendance mark for an R&B male artist in Boston, Denver, Edmonton, and Orlando.

At Toronto’s Rogers Centre, he also broke the all-time record for most shows by a male solo artist on a single tour with six, while also setting the record for any Canadian artist.

Launched in 2022, the After Hours Til Dawn Tour has already included shows in Manchester. The Weeknd last performed at the Etihad Stadium in June 2023.
