A pensioner sustained severe injuries after being struck by a Range Rover following Liverpool's Premier League fixture against Tottenham on Sunday March 15. Officers are requesting witnesses to come forward following the collision at approximately 6.40pm GMT.

Merseyside Police confirmed the man, aged 79, sustained serious injuries to his leg and ankle. The motorist driving the silver Range Rover remained at the scene. Investigators are now requesting any witnesses, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage to assist with their enquiries.

Liverpool and Tottenham drew the encounter 1-1 as former Everton star Richarlison scored a late equalizer to cancel out Dominik Szoboszlai's opening goal.

The officer leading the investigation, Constable Anthony Holden of the Matrix Roads Policing Unit, said: "This was a serious collision, and we're keen to speak to any witnesses as a result.

"The male pedestrian suffered a serious ankle and leg injury.", reports the Liverpool Echo.

"The incident happened whilst fans were leaving the stadium and were walking along Oakfield Road.

"There were numerous people around who will have seen what happened and any information, no matter how small, could help the investigation.

"If you were passing the location and saw or captured the incident on CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage then please share this with police."

Arne Slot was left disappointed after the game as his side threw away a lead and wasted the chance to boost their Champions League qualification hopes.

Of course it's damaging, but it's how many times this has been damaging for us. We don't help ourselves at all. It's so many times this season that we've created much more xG or chances than the amount of goals we score," he said.

"Usually in the Premier League you see a lot of teams outperforming their xG, but that definitely is [not] what we are doing throughout the whole season.

"Then a game still stays tight until the end and we struggle to keep clean sheets. We haven't had as many clean sheets as you would want if you want to go higher up in the table. That's a bad combination for picking up the amount of points we want to pick up."
