Man City and the Premier League continue to await a final verdict from their financial charges case.

Manchester City have reportedly been informed that the wait for the verdict into their alleged financial breaches could be delayed until October 2025.
In February 2023, City were charged by the Premier League with 115 breaches of historic FFP rules. The allegations dated back to between 2009 and 2018 - mainly relating to the manner in which players and staff were paid by the Blues.
City strongly denied any wrongdoing and explained they had irrefutable evidence which would clear their name. Due to the complex nature of that case, the hearing only began in September 2024 and culminated at the end of last year.
Pep Guardiola suggested that a verdict was expected at the beginning of this year, but that never came. The next expected timeline was during pre-season when the Premier League and City could address the results without the football proving to be a distraction.
However, as we have edged closer to the 2025/2026 season, this has seemed less likely. Now, The Independent understands Guardiola and his players are working with the assumption that October will be when the verdict is released.
Those familiar with the situation claim that between October 4 and 18 could be an opportune moment due to the international break. Regardless of the verdict, it is unlikely to be the end of the saga with both sides able to appeal the decision.
Should City be found guilty, to any level, it is difficult to perceive what a punishment could be. The scale of the allegations are unprecedented so anything from a fine, points deduction or automatic demotion may yet all be considered as suitable punishments.
The extremity of the punishment could also be determined by how many - and which allegations - are upheld by the verdict. City may, of course, be found not guilty which could spark action against the Premier League and the division's own appeal.
