Senior figures in the Premier League are reportedly anticipating a decision on Manchester City's 115 charges to be delivered this month.

The hearing, which began in September 2024, took place over 12 weeks and the verdict remains undisclosed.

Manchester City are facing accusations of 115 alleged breaches of financial regulations over a nine-year period, from 2009, following the takeover by Abu Dhabi United Group, until 2018.

Throughout the proceedings, the club has consistently denied all allegations.

The charges against City are varied, including 54 counts of failing to provide accurate financial information from 2009-10 to 2017-18, as well as not providing precise details regarding player and manager payments during the same timeframe.

Additional charges pertain to UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules and the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules.

These charges were initially brought forward in 2023, leading to a lengthy wait for the outcome.

The sheer volume of allegations and their severity are the main reasons why the case has been prolonged - but according to The Independent, the wait is expected to conclude soon.

The entire process has been somewhat enigmatic. Premier League CEO Richard Masters has been questioned repeatedly but has declined to divulge any specifics.

In July 2025, Masters told NBC: "You can ask but our rules are very clear, it's a confidential process so I can't give any information on timing or anything like that," adding, "I can't add anything on that."

Following criticism from former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy regarding the length of the process, Masters responded: "The only point where I can speak publicly about it is when a decision has been handed down."

He added: "I can't speculate about why or when, that's all I can say really. Daniel is not in the same position as me and I can't talk about it."

When the allegations were made public in 2023, City robustly defended their position. They expressed shock at the charges and welcomed an independent investigation.

The Premier League side claimed to possess a "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" to prove their innocence. "As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all," read a club statement.

City manager Pep Guardiola has previously asserted his commitment to the club, regardless of the outcome.

"I said six months ago, one year ago when all the clubs accused us of having done something - what happened if you got relegated? I will be here," he declared.

"I don't know the position of the conference they're going to bring us, we're going to come up and come up, we're going to come back to the Premier League. I knew it then, I feel it now."
