Manchester City have been drawn to face Newcastle United in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. The draw was completed on Wednesday night after City's victory over Brentford.

Pep Guardiola's side claimed a 2-0 win over the Bees at the Etihad Stadium in their quarter-final clash to book their place in the semi-final.

City have joined Chelsea and Newcastle in the semi-final, with Arsenal and Crystal Palace still to go head-to-head in their quarter-final next week.

Rayan Cherki opened the scoring for City on their path to claiming a victory over Brentford, before Savinho doubled and completed the scoring in the second half.

City will look ahead to the semi-final clash against Newcastle, which will take place over the course of two legs after the New Year.

The first leg will take place in the week commencing January 12, before the reverse fixture is held a few weeks later in the week commencing February 2.

City will now look ahead to their return to Premier League action this weekend which will see them take on West Ham as they look to leapfrog leaders Arsenal in the table.

The victory over Brentford and draw against Newcastle means City now have an even busier fixture list in the New Year.

City will have fixtures in all four competitions from January onwards, with important games in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup still to come.
