Manchester City will kick off their Champions League campaign next month

Manchester City will welcome Kevin De Bruyne back to the Etihad Stadium for their Champions League opener after the League Phase fixtures were confirmed.
The Blues were handed a date with the Belgian's new club Napoli when the draw was made on Thursday evening, and that tie will be the first fixture for both clubs when the European campaign gets under way in mid September.
The Etihad clash is on Wednesday, September 18, with kick off at 8pm. City's first away game will be against Monaco on October 1 before they travel to Villarreal on October 21.
A double header with German opposition follows in November with Borussia Dortmund the visitors on November 5 before Bayer Leverkusen arrive on November 25.
The date with Real Madrid in the Spanish capital will be the final fixture before the Christmas break with City at the Bernabeu on December 10.
A lengthy away day to Champions League newcomers Bodo/Glimt kicks off the 2026 continental clashes before Pep Guardiola's side conclude the League Phase with a home game against Galatasaray.
City, winners in 2023, were knocked out in the Play-Off round last season by Real Madrid but they had reached at least the quarter-finals in the seven years prior to that.
