Manchester City have sold young winger Farid Alfa-Ruprecht to Bayer Leverkusen after three years at the club.

Manchester City have banked £5million from the sale of Farid Alfa-Ruprecht after the teenager completed his move to Bayer Leverkusen.
City have also included a 50% sell-on clause for the German winger that could net them more profit further down the line should the 19-year-old go on to excel in the Bundesliga.
Alfa-Ruprecht joined City from Hamburg’s academy in 2022 and will now return to Germany. The attacker has likened his play to Jeremy Doku at City and he impressed in the academy teams.
He didn’t make a first-team appearance for City but scored seven times in 12 games for the Under-21s as they won the title last season and Leverkusen signed him on the strength of those displays.
“Alfa-Ruprecht made a big impact as a wide player in the English U21 league,” said sporting director Simon Rolfes. “A strong goal-scoring record, incredible speed, and great footballing talent make him a highly interesting prospect for our first team."
Director of football Kim Falkenberg added: “We clearly see the potential in Farid to become an important player for Bayer 04 in the future."
Alfa-Ruprecht made one matchday squad under Pep Guardiola in the League Cup at Tottenham but didn’t get on and is now ready for a challenge that will lead to more first-team exposure.
“Leverkusen is a top club with great appeal,” he said. “I will repay the trust placed in me and do everything I can to earn the chance to play in a Bayer jersey."
Bayer Leverkusen have sold Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool this summer and the right wing-back's departure could open up game time on the flanks for Alfa-Ruprecht.
