Claudio Echeverri has joined Girona on loan from Manchester City for the second half of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance. Echeverri spent the first half of this season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen but the move was a disaster.
The City youngster was named in a Bundesliga starting XI just once in his time in Germany, making six league appearances in total. He fared a little better in the Champions League, appearing in five of Leverkusen's six European outings, albeit the one game he didn't feature in was Leverkusen's victory over City at the Etihad.
Echeverri will now spend six months with sister club Girona in a bid to stake his claim for a place in Argentina's World Cup plans and to show that he has what it takes to make it back in Manchester.

Echeverri arrived at City from River Plate in January 2025 and made his City debut when coming off the bench in the FA Cup final. The 20-year-old was subsequently named in City's Club World Cup squad and started against Al Ain before suffering an unfortunate injury.
In a statement released by the club, City wished Echeverri "the very best during his time in Spain". He joins a side currently sitting in ninth place in La Liga. Despite being in the top half of the table, Girona are just five points above the La Liga drop zone. An impressive run of three wins on the spin has helped reduce the club's relegation worries.
