Manchester City injury latest following the Carabao Cup win at Swansea City with Pep Guardiola's side in Premier League action against Bournemouth this weekend
Manchester City return to Premier League action this weekend when they welcome second place Bournemouth to the Etihad.
The Cherries are enjoying a fine start to the season and begin the weekend two points and three places clear of the Blues. Pep Guardiola saw his side beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa last weekend before a much-changed team recovered from going a goal down to Championship side Swansea City in Wednesday night's Carabao Cup tie to win 3-1. Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki were on the scoresheet as several players made first starts following time out through injury.
And while there were several welcome returns to the starting XI, City were also dealt a fresh below. Here's the injury latest ahead from the Etihad:
Erling Haaland
Injury: Knock
The Norwegian collided with the post at Villa Park having turned home Marmoush's low cross before the goal was ruled out for offside. He got up gingerly and was able to finish the game, and Guardiola seems confident that he will brush off the knock. Haaland will likely be fit for the weekend.
Potential return date: Bournemouth (H) November 2
Rodri
Injury: Hamstring
Rodri had hoped to be fit for the Premier League game with Everton earlier this month, having sat out international duty to try and recover from the hamstring injury that he felt in the opening minutes against Brentford.
The Spaniard did not think the issue was big at the time, but the Blues are having to be cautious with his return and he will not feature against the Swans with no timescale on his return despite the 29-year-old having returned to training. You feel Bournemouth will come too soon as well.
Potential return date: Dortmund (H) November 5
Mateo Kovacic
Injury: Unknown
The midfielder has yet to start for City this season and missed his latest chance to do so when not involved at Swansea. The Croatia international was described as not fully fit, having only recently returned to the fray following Achilles surgery in the summer. While the issue did not seem serious, it remains to be seen how long Kovacic will be sidelined for.
