Manchester City will face Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the Etihad Stadium in April, with a place in the semi-finals on the line

The date for Liverpool's high-profile FA Cup quarter-final encounter against Premier League opponents Manchester City has been announced.

Pep Guardiola's side progressed to the last eight knockout tournament after defeating Newcastle United 3-1 last weekend. Meanwhile, Liverpool defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 at Molineux.

However, they were handed one of the toughest draws possible when they were paired away to Guardiola's side in the quarter-finals.

The date for the fixture has now been announced, with the Etihad clash scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 4, with a 12.45pm kick-off. The match will be broadcast live by TNT Sports in the UK.

The early Saturday start time creates the possibility for either side to fulfil a potential Champions League quarter-final fixture on the following Tuesday (7 April).

Both clubs will need to overturn a first-leg deficit if they are to reach the quarter-finals of that competition.

City were defeated 3-0 at Real Madrid whilst Liverpool lost 1-0 in Galatasaray. The three other FA Cup quarter-final fixtures have also been announced.

Chelsea will welcome Port Vale on Saturday, 4 April, with a 5.15pm kick-off, before Southampton host Arsenal later that evening at 8pm.

Leeds United will then make the trip to West Ham for the final quarter-final fixture on Sunday, 5 April, with kick-off scheduled for 4.30pm.

City will be desperate to salvage some silverware from the campaign, with Pep Guardiola's side still chasing the Premier League title despite Arsenal sitting seven points clear. City do, however, have a game in hand over Arsenal against Crystal Palace.

Their opponents, Liverpool, meanwhile, were unable to mount a successful defence of their Premier League crown. Their focus is now on securing a top‑four finish, with the Reds currently sitting sixth in the table.

City remain in contention on multiple fronts, with the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Champions League and Premier League all still to play for.
