Man City Get €80M Transfer Update on Real Madrid Outcast Linked to PSG

Rodrygo remained at Real Madrid following the summer transfer window, despite persistent rumors about his next destination. PSG was often linked to the winger, but no agreement was ever reached.

Reports about PSG’s pursuit have been conflicting. Foot Mercato’s Josué Cassé noted that Rodrygo wasn’t among the club’s targets. At the same time, Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg suggested both PSG and Liverpool were monitoring him closely, with Tottenham Hotspur no longer in the picture.

A move to Paris could still be on the cards later in the season, depending on how Rodrygo’s role at Real Madrid evolves. Meanwhile, although a few Premier League clubs have shown only modest interest, one side appears particularly keen on securing him.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester City remain genuinely interested in Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. City manager Pep Guardiola values the Brazil international, although any transfer would likely occur in the summer and carry a price tag of around €80 million.

Furthermore, Plettenberg recently reported that the rumor connecting Tottenham to Rodrygo remains inaccurate. A potential deal appears unrealistic primarily due to the winger’s salary demands.

Even so, a January transfer cannot be ruled out entirely, as clubs continue to explore the market. Rodrygo’s current contract with Real Madrid runs through 2028. Additionally, Romano noted that there are no ongoing talks between Chelsea and Rodrygo regarding a possible January move.

As a result, the lack of competition from Premier League clubs is ideal for Manchester City. Moreover, there’s also the unhappiness of Rodrygo that will bode well for Guardiola and Co.

ESPN Brasil previously revealed that Rodrygo has grown frustrated with his reduced role this season and is seriously considering a January departure. So far, he has played only 24 percent of Real Madrid’s total minutes under Alonso.
