Man City icon Riyad Mahrez supported after life update - 'everything we dreamed of'

Riyad Mahrez was one of Manchester City's most inregral players between 2018 and 2023

Ex-Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez has been supported by a number of his former team-mates following his latest life update alongside his wife, Taylor Ward.

The 34-year-old winger was an integral member of Pep Guardiola's four-time Premier League title-winning side between 2019 and 2023. He initially made the move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2018, having also helped guide Leicester City to a rare league title triumph in 2016.

While at the Etihad, Mahrez made over 230 appearances across all competitions and scored 78 goals, while also registering just shy of 60 assists. He eventually departed the club in the summer of 2023 after five years to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli in a £30 million transfer.

Since joining Al Ahli two years ago, Mahrez has won the Saudi Super Cup and scored 33 goals in his 94 appearances so far. He remains under contract there until the summer of 2027.

On Thursday, Mahrez and his wife shared the news of the birth of their second child - Mahrez’s fourth - in a joint Instagram post. A wholesome image of their daughter was accompanied by the caption: “Everything we dreamed of and more.”

In response to the post, a number of Mahrez’s former City team-mates liked and supported the news. Chief among them was Jack Grealish, who is currently on loan at Premier League rivals Everton.

Ex-City stars Kalvin Phillips, Nathan Ake and Oleksandr Zinchenko were also among those to show their support, as was ex-Liverpool forward and Mahrez’s former Al Ahli team-mate Roberto Firmino.

This season, Mahrez has already scored four goals and registered six assists in his 16 outings across all competitions. He recently netted the winning goal in their league fixture against Al-Ittihad before the international break, taking his side to fifth in the Saudi Pro League standings.

City, by contrast, are second in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Arsenal. Their recent triumph over struggling champions Liverpool has provided Guardiola’s side with a significant boost in the title race ahead of a crucial run of games across the winter period.

The Manchester club will return to action after the international break with a tricky visit to Newcastle before they welcome Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. A league fixture at home to Leeds United will then follow before the end of the month.
