Manchester City will be without seven players for their Premier League game with Chelsea after another two injury blows

Manchester City suffered a double injury blow with Nico Gonzalez and Savinho both ruled out of the game with Chelsea. The pair were taken off in the draw with Sunderland and neither have recovered in time for Sunday's Premier League game.

Savinho was expected to miss the match after Pep Guardiola suggested that his injury was serious. Gonzalez left the Stadium of Light as a doubt but was unable to prove his fitness ahead of this match; the manager may give an update on his situation before or after the Chelsea game.

Guardiola was already without three other players through injury, with John Stones, Oscar Bobb and Mateo Kovacic sidelined. They also have Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri away at the African Cup of Nations, meaning that they will be without seven players in total for the Chelsea game.

In more positive news, Rodri is fit to start his first game in three months after playing the second half at Sunderland. The Spaniard has missed most of the season with a hamstring problem but has returned just as Gonzalez has picked up an issue.

Jeremy Doku also came back from injury at Sunderland and impressed in his second-half appearance, although he has only been named on the bench for the Chelsea game after Guardiola said he would have to consult his doctors and physios. Tijjani Reijnders takes that spot, while Josko Gvardiol replaces Nathan Ake.

City kick off against Chelsea seven points behind leaders Arsenal and a point behind second-placed Aston Villa, having played a game less. They are looking to return to winning ways after their draw at Sunderland on New Year's Day.
