Manchester City suffered the disappointment of being humbled 2-0 by rivals Manchester United on Saturday to lose further ground in the Premier League title race. But the Blues have no time to dwell on that significant defeat as they switch their attention to the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's side begin the week in the top four and will want to ensure they at least secure a top eight spot and avoid the need for a play-off round. Should the Blues secure a top two finish they will guarantee home advantage until the final.

City travel to Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday night for their penultimate fixture. The Norwegian side have struggled in the Champions League this season but their artificial pitch and the freezing January conditions in the north of Norway could play to their advantage.

The Blues have travelled without nine players as injury, illness and unavailability impacts their squad. Guardiola must weigh up the need to rotate with the importance three points would provide.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was the one bright spot at Old Trafford and will keep his place. City's makeshift back four at United was exposed and it's at the back where the selection is hard to predict. Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and John Stones are all sidelined meaning there are limited options for Guardiola.

He could opt to hand Rayan Ait-Nouri a start at left back. Max Alleyne and Abdukodir Khusanov have been the starting centre backs in recent weeks and while the latter could provide an option at right back with Matheus Nunes ill and Rico Lewis failing to impress in the derby, Lewis looks set to retain his spot. It would feel something of a risk to start Nathan Ake given his recent workload, injury record and the nature of the surface.

In midfield, injury to Nico Gonzalez and Bernardo Silva's suspension mean City are light in the middle of the park and starting Rodri represents a risk for much the same reasons as Ake. Nico O'Reilly could be pressed into midfield as he was at Newcastle last week.

Tijjani Reijnders can come into the team and Rayan Cherki is perhaps best placed to start. Jeremy Doku is the only natural winger available to Guardiola and while Phil Foden has travelled despite some suggestions he had suffered a hand injury in the derby, risking him is unnecessary and Divine Mukasa has shown his potential and come in.

Omar Marmoush is available after his Africa Cup of Nations exploits and could be thrown back in to allow a shattered Erling Haaland the night off.

Predicted City XI: Donnarumma, Lewis, Khusanov, Alleyne, Ait-Nouri; O'Reilly, Reijnders, Cherki, Mukasa, Doku, Marmoush
