Manchester City will honour the victims of the terrorist attack that took place in the city this week when their men's and women's team take to the field this weekend.

Manchester City players will wear black armbands in the men's and women's first-team fixtures this weekend as a mark of respect after the terror attack that rocked the city on Thursday.

There will also be a minute's silence ahead of the WSL fixture against Arsenal at the Joie Stadium and the Premier League clash with Brentford at the Gtech Stadium as the victims of the atrocity are remembered.

Two people died after the attack outside Heaton Park synagogue, on Middleton Road, while the attacker was shot dead by police. The victims have been named as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.

Four other people were injured and three of them remain in hospital with serious injuries. The attack stunned the city and the people of Manchester have rallied round since, with both of its major football clubs planning to pay their respects this weekend.

A Manchester City spokesman said: "Everyone at Manchester City remains deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic events that took place in our city earlier this week.

"As Manchester comes together in solidarity, we have worked alongside Manchester United to collectively pay our respects.

"At our women’s home match against Arsenal, as well as the men’s away match vs Brentford, all our players will take part in a moment of silence before kick-off. Our players are also expected to wear black armbands as a sign of respect."
