Man City player ratings vs Dortmund with two 8/10s as Erling Haaland breaks record

Manchester City beat Dortmund 4-1 with a brace from Phil Foden and goals from Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki

Erling Haaland made more Champions League history as Manchester City beat Dortmund 4-1 at the Etihad to boost their hopes of a top-eight finish. The Norwegian became the first player to score in five consecutive Champions League games for three separate clubs when he netted in the first half as his obscenely good form in front of goal continues.

City were already 1-0 up by then thanks to a Phil Foden special and the 25-year-old got another in the second half to add to an emphatic performance by the Blues. They risked Pep Guardiola's wrath by letting Dortmund back into the game though, threatening to make more of a contest of the match than it merited.

However, substitute Rayan Cherki netted late on to make the result safe. Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News.

Donnarumma: Angry for the goal and made some important interventions to stop a City panic late on. 7

Nunes: Another strong performance going forward but he abandoned his post too often to allow Dortmund to push in the final 20 minutes. 6

Stones: Solid without standing out, a quiet night for the England man where he rarely ventured forward. 7

Gvardiol: A few important challenges in the second half to keep Dortmund at bay, nothing spectacular but decent. 7

O'Reilly: Nearly scored his second goal in a week from Haaland's pass and full of energy all night but a needless booking. 6

Gonzalez: Carried on where he left off against Bournemouth, although he will be disappointed at City losing control at the end. 7

Savinho: Very good running at defenders and creating space, although his final ball still needs work. 7
