Manchester City were 3-0 winners over Liverpool in the Premier League to continue their excellent form in all competitions

Manchester City thrashed Liverpool 3-0 in the Premier League to close the gap at the top of the table to four points. With Arsenal conceding a late equaliser at Sunderland on Saturday, it was Pep Guardiola's side who took advantage with an excellent performance at the Etihad.

Erling Haaland wasted an opportunity to put them in front from the penalty spot, but did score a terrific header to open the scoring. City continued to push and were rewarded on the stroke of half-time when Nico Gonzalez's effort was deflected in.

Jeremy Doku tormented Liverpool all game and added a superb third in the second half to crown an outstanding display. Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News.

Donnarumma: Lucky to see Van Dijk's header ruled out and was a bit rash in the second half before a good save later on. 6

Nunes: Very good defensively and produced a terrific cross for Haaland's opener. He's having a hell of a season. 8

Dias: Outstanding for much of the game, including a crucial moment when Salah could have had an open net. City's best defender. 8

Gvardiol: Some meaty challenges to keep City stable at the back, although he nearly let Salah through to score. 7

O'Reilly: Salah gave him a tough time early on, yet he settled and held his own before charging up the pitch to assist the third. 7

Gonzalez: Overcame some early issues to take charge of the game and scored the crucial second goal before half-time. 8

Silva: Vintage Silva, dropping deep to help the centre-backs but also storming forward to counter and rarely losing the ball. 8

Cherki: Some neat bits of play and went close with a deflected shot in the first half, a bit of a surprise he came off early in the second half. 7

Foden: Earned another kiss from Guardiola for his part in the third goal and relished dropping between the lines. 8

Doku: About as close to a 10 as you can get. Unplayable all game and scored a wonderful goal that was more than deserved. 9

Haaland: Missed the early penalty but the header was terrific and he stayed involved in the game. 7

Substitutes:

Savinho (for Cherki, 53) Didn't really add anything to the game. 6

Marmoush (for Doku, 74) Got stuck in immediately. 6

Not used: Trafford, Stones, Ake, Ait-Nouri, Lewis, Reijnders, Bobb
