Manchester City were well beaten at Old Trafford to lose further ground in the Premier League title race

Manchester City were soundly beaten by Manchester United in the 198th Manchester derby to lose more ground on Arsenal in the Premier League title race. Arsenal can go nine points clear if they beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday after City's 2-0 defeat.

Antoine Semenyo kept his place in the starting XI following goals on his first two starts for the club but was unable to keep his hot streak going in a team that started poorly and got worse. United had already had two goals disallowed and Pep Guardiola had made two half-time substitutions when Bryan Mbuemo opened the scoring in the 65th minute.

City's response was not good enough and Patrick Dorgu doubled the lead. Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News.

Donnarumma: City had him to thank at the end for only losing 2-0 given the saves he made throughout. 8

Lewis: He tried to knit everything together but it didn't work out and he was sleeping for the second goal. 5

Khusanov: City's best defender by a long way, reading the game well, using his physicality and making important tackles. 7

Alleyne: Some shaky passes that didn't find a teammate as he struggled the find the confidence from his recent games. Subbed at half-time. 5

Ake: Did enough to avoid United beating him while remaining onside, and then slotted in to partner Khusanov. 6

Rodri: Nearly gifted United a first-half lead with an inexplicable pass near his box, and struggled more as the game went on. 4

Silva: His effort wasn't enough in a game where City needed to keep the ball to create the chances they needed. 5

Foden: Couldn't quite get things working with Doku and Haaland but still a surprise he only lasted 45 minutes. 5

Semenyo: Couldn't keep his hot streak going but there were at least flashes of what he could do. 6

Doku: Did enough to get Dalot booked within minutes for a nasty challenge but his impact quickly faded and never returned. 5

Haaland: Barely got a touch and when he did Martinez usually had enough to handle him. 5
