Omar Marmoush (2) and Tijjani Reijnders scored the goals as Manchester City beat Newcastle 3-1 to go through to the Carabao Cup final
Manchester City booked their place in the Carabao Cup final with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United. Holding a 2-0 lead from the first leg, the result was never in doubt from the moment Omar Marmoush netted in the sixth minute of the game.
Marmoush added another and Tijjani Reijnders also scored before half-time for a dominant City who had far too much for Eddie Howe's visitors. Anthony Elanga did get one back in another second half that the Blues didn't really turn up for, but the game was already won by that point.
Rayan Cherki impressed off the bench and Erling Haaland twice drew saves from Aaron Ramsdale as a triple change from Guardiola had the desired effect. Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News.

Trafford: Made a number of top saves that ended up being important to the scoreline on the night to keep City's control. 8
Nunes: Struggled to impose himself on the game and was booked in the first half, even if there were no major problems. 6
Khusanov: A poor error to start the second half, although generally he was good again in what was his ninth consecutive start. 7
Ake: Wasn't faultless in a half that did give Newcastle chances but his early change could be a sign he is starting at Anfield. 7
Ait-Nouri: Too weak to allow Elanga to stride past him for the Newcastle goal, cancelling out some decent runs forward. 6
Gonzalez: Solid enough, linking well with Reijnders and Foden, and even got some minutes with Rodri in the middle. 7
O'Reilly: As has been the norm in recent weeks, good when strolling around the midfield but not doing enough defensively. 7
Reijnders: One of his best games, becoming the man of the moment in the first half. Missed a good chance after that to extend City's lead though. 8
Foden: A few flickers of what he can do, although there wasn't enough to suggest he should stay in the team on Sunday. 6
Semenyo: Looked lively in the first half and worried the Newcastle defence, contributing to the second goal. 7
Marmoush: Two goals is exactly what was wanted and the early goal eased any City nerves. 8
