Manchester City reached the FA Cup final for a fourth consecutive year with a 2-1 win over Southampton at Wembley Stadium. Finn Azaz gave the Saints the lead with a superb curling effort but his strike was cancelled out by Jeremy Doku moments later.

With time running out, Nico Gonzalez won the game with a thunderbolt. The win means City will face either Chelsea or Leeds United in next month's final.

Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News:

James Trafford: Not much to do. Needed to think quickly to play the role of sweeper. 6

Matheus Nunes: Solid at full-back but had an injury scare at the end of the first half. Was fit enough to continue and did fine after the break 6

John Stones: Assured on his return. Fittingly wore the armband at Wembley. 6

Nathan Ake: Made an important interception in an otherwise quiet first half. He did excellently to deny a goalscoring opportunity shortly after the break. 7

Rayan Ait-Nouri: Same as Nunes in the first 45 minutes. Was a greater attacking threat in the second half before being replaced. 6

Nico Gonzalez: A solid performance anchoring midfield. Looked comfortable alongside Kovacic and then produced a beauty to win it. 7

Mateo Kovacic: Found the pockets nicely to link up play. His run nearly led to a goal and was replaced only to manage his minutes. 7

Rayan Cherki: Quiet first half but woke up after the break. Not his best performance by any stretch. 6

Tijjani Reijnders: Struck the post early, albeit the flag was up. Should have hit the target with 20 minutes to go. 6

Phil Foden: Looked off the pace. Outmuscled by Caspar Jander to sum up his day. 4

Omar Marmoush: Too hesitant in front of goal. He had a lot of chances but failed to convert any. Replaced by Haaland. 4

Substitutes

Jeremy Doku: Sparked City into life and terrorised the Saints defence. Could have sealed it at the death. 8

Savinho: Forced a good save. 6

Erling Haaland: Quiet cameo. 6

Nico O'Reilly: Solid at full-back. 6

Bernardo Silva: Helped to calm the team. 6
