Another academy star has been called up into first-team training at Manchester City ahead of the Champions League clash with Monaco.

Versatile forward Emilio Lawrence has been promoted to first-team training at Manchester City ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with Monaco.

The 20-year-old is the latest youth product to get a taste of senior training in recent weeks as City continue to give their best academy prospects exposure.

Lawrence is yet to make a competitive appearance since joining from Everton in 2022 and he wasn't one of the 10 academy graduates in the squad to face Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup last week.

Instead, he played 77 minutes for the Elite Development Squad as they were beaten 3-0 by Bolton in the EFL Trophy 24 hours earlier. He has played both games in that competition this season, registering two assists in the 6-1 win against Oldham.

Lawrence has also featured in four Premier League 2 games this season as well as playing for Scotland Under-21s in a European Championship qualifier against Portugal.

He has made 38 appearances in total for City's Under-21s, scoring nine goals with 11 assists. He was included in first-team training last season ahead of a Champions League fixture with Sparta Prague in October but didn't make the matchday squad.

Lawrence was joined in training on Tuesday by Divine Mukasa. The forward made his debut at Huddersfield, was an unused substitute against Burnley and looks set to be involved with the first-team at Monaco.

There was no sign of Stephen Mfuni, Kaden Braithwaite, Jaden Heskey, Ryan McAidoo or Reigan Heskey during the training session.

All have been involved with the first-team recently, but might now play for Ben Wilkinson's Under-21s against Monaco in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday instead.

Wilkinson's side beat Napoli 2-0 in their opening fixture to also kick-off their campaign with a victory as they eye success in the competition for the first time.
