Manchester City injury latest ahead of Premier League match with Brentford

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola reported a positive update on his squad ahead of the Premier League trip to Brentford on Sunday.

City twice threw away the lead in the Champions League on Wednesday night, drawing 2-2 with Monaco with the home side levelling in the closing stages from the penalty spot.

But despite dropping two points, the Blues took their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions and will hope to extend that to seven at Brentford ahead of the international break.

Guardiola's squad will train on Friday afternoon but the City boss confirmed that 'everybody finished without problems,' after the Monaco match, raising the prospect of Rodri starting this weekend after the midfielder was taken off in France.

City must continue to manage the 29-year-old's minutes given Guardiola does not feel Rodri can play three games a week at the moment. Here's the latest City injury news.

Injury: Knee

The Spaniard played against Monaco, completing 60 minutes. Guardiola warned that the 29-year-old is not currently fit to play enough to play three games in a week having felt pain in his knee after doing just that earlier this month. But speaking after the game the City chief was positive on his star man and Guardiola reiterated that on Friday.

Rayan Cherki

Injury: Thigh

The France international returned to training with City on Tuesday but is not yet ready to return and did not travel for the Monaco match. Injury: Ankle
