Rayan Cherki has been handed the No.10 shirt for Manchester City this season following Jack Grealish's move to Everton.

Grealish sealed a season-long loan move to the Toffees on Tuesday. The England international admitted he was "over the moon to have signed for Everton" and the Merseyside outfit have the option to make the move permanent for £50 million next summer.

Grealish's departure meant the No.10 shirt was freed up at the Etihad and the club have now confirmed that Cherki has been passed the shirt number.

Cherki arrived from Lyon in a deal worth an initial £31m (€36.5m) earlier this summer. The Frenchman was handed the No.29 jersey following his arrival at the club, a number he wore during City's Club World Cup campaign in the United States.

"I am very happy to play with the No.10. I can't wait to [play] in the Etihad and come on City," Cherki said upon being handed the No.10 shirt.

The former Lyon man could be given the chance to debut his new shirt number away at Wolves this weekend. City kick off their bid to reclaim their Premier League title on Saturday, kick-off 5.30pm.
