Manchester City aren't planning a bid for Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento as they weigh up their options at right-back following Kyle Walker's move to Burnley.
City had briefly looked at the 22-year-old as a potential solution in that position, but they haven't made a bid this summer and are set to look elsewhere as they eye a successor to Walker, who spent eight years at the Etihad before his switch to Turf Moor.
Newcastle securing qualification for the Champions League eased their fears around the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and they are now set to offer Livramento a new long-team deal to stay at St James' Park.
But City's interest in the England Under-21 international never extended to a bid and they have no intention of making one now, with the focus on departures at the Etihad.
Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis can both play at right-back and did so in the second half of last season following Walker's January loan move to AC Milan. Centre-backs John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Abdukodir Khusanov can also provide cover on the right if required.
Walker had held down that role for the majority of his City career and was named club captain ahead of the 2023/24 season, but his relationship with Pep Guardiola started to strain before he sought a January move to the San Siro.
Milan decided against taking the £4million option on that deal but Burnley made their move for Walker, with boss Scott Parker keen to bring in his experience, having played with the England international when they were together at Tottenham.
City have spent £111million on new signings this summer and could add to that with a move for James Trafford from Burnley. The 22-year-old tops City's list of goalkeeping options if Ederson joins Galatasaray.
Further departures are expected, with Kalvin Phillips, Jack Grealish and James McAtee all likely to depart. McAtee is wanted by clubs in Europe and the Premier League, but wages could prove a stumbling block for Phillips, who is on £125,000-a-week at the Etihad, and Grealish, who earns £300,000-a-week at City.
