Manchester City injury news and return dates ahead of the Carabao Cup tie with Swansea City.

Manchester City travel to Swansea City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night aiming to reach the last eight.

The Blues have not won the competition since 2021, the last of four successive triumphs and five in six years. After a trophyless campaign last term, Pep Guardiola would welcome some more League Cup success.

City will be heavy favourites to beat their Championship opponents and are set to welcome back a clutch of players from injury with Mateo Kovacic, Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki all set for starts having been in the squad at Aston Villa.

Here's the injury latest ahead from the Etihad:

Erling Haaland

Injury: Knock

The Norwegian collided with the post at Villa Park having turned home Marmoush's low cross before the goal was ruled out for offside. He got up gingerly and was able to finish the game, and Guardiola seems confident that he will brush off the knock while suggesting that Haaland will be rested for the League Cup game with Swansea anyway.

Potential return date: Bournemouth (H) November 2

Rodri

Injury: Hamstring

Rodri had hoped to be fit for the Premier League game with Everton earlier this month, having sat out international duty to try and recover from the hamstring injury that he felt in the opening minutes against Brentford earlier this month.

The Spaniard did not think the issue was big at the time, but the Blues are having to be cautious with his return and he will not feature against the Swans with no timescale on his return despite the 29-year-old having returned to training.

Abdukodir Khusanov

Injury: Unknown

The Uzbekistan international had made the right back spot his own but he was forced off injured at half time in the draw with Arsenal and has not featured since. Guardiola confirmed this week that he is fit to feature against Swansea.

Potential return date: Swansea (A) October 29

Rayan Ait-Nouri

Injury: Ankle

Ait-Nouri suffered an ankle injury in the early stages of his home debut against Tottenham and while he then featured against Brighton, he has not played for City since.

The Algerian has returned to training and was an unused sub in Villarreal but wasn't involved at Villa. Guardiola confirmed this week that he is ready to play against Swansea.
