Manchester City have been linked with a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma amid talk of an exit for Ederson

Manchester City have not denied interest in Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma - but their preference is to keep Ederson. The Brazilian has been No.1 at the club for the past eight years and the intention is to make that nine.

Ederson nearly moved to the Saudi Pro League last summer but rubbished talk of an exit this year as "99 per cent fake news", insisting that he wanted to stay at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola also expects to keep Ederson for the year, and James Trafford was signed from Burnley two weeks ago with the ambition of taking over when the 31-year-old's contract is up next year; Trafford has taken the No.1 shirt.

Tuesday saw an avalanche of media reports though regarding both Ederson and Donnarumma. There have been claims that Galatasaray are closing in on a deal for the former while City have agreed terms with the latter, whose time at Paris Saint-Germain is over.

A move for Donnarumma looks certain if Ederson leaves, and City will reluctantly let him leave if they get the right offer - just as they will Savinho amid Tottenham interest. However, club sources say that there is currently nothing on the table for Ederson from other clubs and they would like to keep it that way.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 more.

The speculation adds to the uncertainty around City heading into the new season, with their opening Premier League game at Wolves just days away.

Guardiola said last week that he was not expecting any new arrivals in the remaining weeks of the transfer window, but City would be forced into action by movement around Ederson.

City are already facing up to a struggle in midfield in the opening weeks of the season, with Mateo Kovacic injured and Rodri not fully fit. Phil Foden also took a knock on his ankle that caused him to miss the Palermo friendly.
