Manchester City defender Max Alleyne has joined Championship side Watford on a season-long loan deal.
Alleyne, 20, played a key role in City under-21s' PL2 title-winning side last season and was named the club's under-21 Player of the Year last term.
The former Southampton youngster was twice included in City's Premier League matchday squads last season and was also part of their Club World Cup squad this summer.
The ball-playing centre-back will now look to get experience of regular football at senior level and Watford have praised the job City's academy have done when discussing the transfer.
"Max stands out for his technical ability," Watford boss Paulo Pezzolano told the Hornets' official website.
"He’s a very dynamic player and with a really good understanding of the game. He’s a very versatile player. Being ambidextrous, he can play on both sides of the field.
"In addition, even though his main position on the field is as a centre-back, he can also play in other positions.
"Seeing Max play, it is clear that the Man City academy is doing a great job. Now it’s our job to contribute to Max’s development, help him settle in the professional game and get the best out of him for Watford."
Alleyne's centre-half partner at under-21 level, Jahmai Simpson-Pusey, also sealed a loan move away from the Etihad Stadium this week as he joined Scottish champions Celtic on a season-long loan deal.
City have high hopes for the pair and will be monitoring their progress throughout the campaign. Alleyne will now look to make his debut for Watford when they take on Charlton Athletic in their opening game of the Championship season on Saturday.
