Man United hand Tottenham an obstacle in the race to sign a £50m Spurs fan

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided an update on the future of Tottenham target Alex Scott as we edge closer to the summer window.

Tottenham have some extremely talented young midfielders at their disposal in the form of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, and they are now thought to be looking to add another one to their squad this summer.

It has been reported that Spurs are considering a move to bring Alex Scott to N17, having been extremely impressed with his growth at Bournemouth.

The 22-year-old has become a consistent performer in the middle of the park for the Cherries, and a first England cap may not be too far away for the youngster.

Man United could challenge Tottenham for Alex Scott

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now revealed on The United Stand channel that Man United may also make a move for the Cherries star.

While Jacobs did not suggest that the Red Devils are certain to pursue Scott, he explained that Michael Carrick’s men could add as many as three central midfielders to their squad this summer, especially if they can find ‘economic’ options.

The journalist also adds that Bournemouth are hoping to hang on to the England U21 international this summer, despite the growing interest in his services.

It would thus appear that the Lilywhites have plenty of work to do to land Scott, as not only will they face competition for his signature, but they may be dealing with a club which makes negotiations difficult.

Spurs may have one advantage over Scott’s other suitors

It is not just Man United that Spurs have to worry about, with reports indicating that Chelsea may also challenge Tottenham for Scott, who is valued at £50m.

However, Scott has repeatedly admitted that he grew up supporting Tottenham, and the Lilywhites still hold a special place in his heart.

The North Londoners will be hoping that the player’s special connection with the club could give them the upper hand over the likes of Man United and Chelsea in the transfer race.
