Man United's Fletcher earns Scotland Under-21 call

His twin Jack, also a midfielder with United, played briefly for Scotland at Under-16 level but has been with England youth sides since.

The brothers played against each other in November during a Under-19s European Championship qualifier.

In July 2023, the pair signed for United from direct rivals Manchester City for a reported combined fee of £1.25m.

Fletcher senior, capped 80 times, is the under-18 coach at Old Trafford and had a two-game stint as caretaker head coach between the departure of Ruben Amorim and the interim appointment of Michael Carrick.

Of the current national senior squad, Lewis Ferguson, Angus Gunn and Lennon Miller have fathers who played for Scotland.

Aberdeen defender Mitchel Frame has also been given a first under-21 call-up ahead of meetings with Czech Republic at Dens Park on March 27 and Portugal in Estoril four days later.
