Manchester City beat Manchester United 3-0 in the derby

Manchester City fans have been divided after a barman working at the Etihad Stadium during the Manchester Derby was pictured wearing a Manchester United shirt.
On Sunday afternoon (September 14), City and United played against each other in a Premier League match at the Eastlands stadium. The start of the game featured a poignant minute’s applause in memory of Ricky Hatton.
The match saw Pep Guardiola's team take an early lead in the 18th minute after Phil Foden scored his first Premier League goal since January, heading Jeremy Doku's cross into the far corner. Erling Haaland also managed to score twice, with City winning 3-0 against United.
But there was some drama off-pitch too thanks to a bar worker’s choice of outfit whilst serving spectators at the stadium. The worker, who has not been identified, was pictured wearing a United shirt underneath a black jacket whilst pouring pints of beer for customers.

According to the initial post, the photo was taken at the bar area in block 315.
In the X post, which has since been deleted, City fan @Mataniels wrote: “Absolute joke @ManCity - letting one of the bar staff in block 315 wear a United shirt on Derby Day.”
The post went viral online, with people sharing their thoughts on the move. One person asked: “How did he get there in the first place!!” Another said: "Genuine question.....what's he thinking?"
Another said: “The game is too far gone”. Another supporter commented: “Some fella turns up in fancy dress and that's your biggest concern, £4 for a sausage roll is an outrage?”.
In response to the initial post, the Manchester City Fan Support page thanked the fan for sharing the incident. In a response, the account wrote: “Thank you for making us aware of this. We can confirm that this individual has now been removed from their position.”

The comment from the fan support account then led to a large number of posts from fans who had suggested that ‘removing’ the member of staff was perhaps a step too far.
One person said: “Sacking someone for what was probably a bit of derby day banter, maybe even a dare. What a club!!” Another wrote: “A sacking is over the top but it's a little silly from the bloke. People wouldn't like it if it was a Blues fan at Villa Park etc.”
Another fan commented: “I hate United way more than City but to sack him from a job because of an item of clothing is crazy. So so poor from Manchester City, this. It’s just football lads, he’s not wearing a political or derogatory symbol. It’s literally a football team. Rats.”
One other wrote: “I used to work in the LFC club shop in Dublin. Half of us working there weren’t Pool fans. Didn’t care about the badge, it was just a retail job. You need to be a City fan to serve refreshments? Cop on.”
Manchester City have been approached by the M.E.N. on numerous occasions for more information on the incident.
