Manchester City hand Tottenham major boost in Morgan Gibbs-White saga

12 hours ago 27

Amidst reports that Nottingham Forest are hoping to sell Morgan Gibbs-White to Manchester City rather than Tottenham Hotspur, a new update has revealed what the Manchester club’s stance is on the attacking midfielder.

It has been nearly two weeks since Tottenham met Morgan Gibbs-White’s £60m release clause, but the transfer appears no closer to going through.

Nottingham Forest are continuing to fight to stop Spurs from landing Gibbs-White, with the Midlands club accusing the North London side of speaking to the player illegally to find out about his confidential release clause.

It emerged earlier this week that Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, is trying to sell Gibbs-White to Man City instead of Spurs.

The Manchester club previously held an interest in the England international, and the Tricky Trees are hoping that they come back in for the player soon.

Manchester City are not expected to fight Tottenham for Morgan Gibbs-White

Spurs fans are understandably furious at Marinakis for his underhanded tactics regarding Gibbs-White. However, their fears over missing out on the midfielder have been assuaged by a new report from Manchester Evening News.

The outlet says that City have no intention of making a move for Gibbs-White despite finding out that he is available for £60m.

Guardiola’s men did show an interest in the Forest star last season, but they have reinforced their midfield this summer with the additions of Rayan Cherki from Lyon and Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan.

City are not looking to add any more midfielders to the squad and are currently focused on offloading the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish.

Forest may want to complete another deal before selling Gibbs-White

Various experts have continued to suggest that Gibbs-White will complete a move to Spurs eventually, but it is unclear at the moment how long the issue will take to be resolved.

Some sources have claimed that Forest may simply be delaying the Gibbs-White deal until they sign a replacement.

According to a recent update by TBR Football, Forest are now edging closer to landing James McAtee, and Spurs fans will be hoping the deal for McAtee speeds up Gibbs-White’s switch to N17.
