England international Marc Guehi leaving Crystal Palace in 2026 seems inevitable, but it is not yet clear whether he will leave for a fee this month, or for free at the end of the season

Manchester City has been tipped to win the battle to sign Marc Guehi, should the Etihad Stadium club make a serious play to land the Crystal Palace captain this month.
Guehi is a defender in demand at the moment, with a number of top clubs in England and abroad keen on signing the defender in 2026. The 25-year-old will leave Palace this year – it's just a case of when. His contract will expire at the end of the season, and if he doesn't leave for a fee this month, he will leave for free in the summer.
Most of the clubs that are interested in Guehi are likely to wait until the end of the season to try and convince the 25-year-old that theirs is the right club to join.

City is another club that is being heavily linked with a move to sign Guehi in January after losing Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol to long-term injuries earlier this month.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio discussed the possibility of Guehi moving to City instead of Liverpool, and said that it would be the biggest deal of the time that remains in the window, after Antoine Semenyo's future was resolved when he made a move from Bournemouth to City a few days ago.

“He probably wanted to be a free agent," Di Marzio told AceOdds.com. "But with Man City having urgent defensive problems, we will see if they'll really go for him. If Man City go for a player, they usually get him. They will make a good offer to Crystal Palace and Guehi. They can afford it.”
“Otherwise, he's free to wait for Bayern Munich or Liverpool. He's in the perfect position because he can ask for a big salary as he's free.
"If Man City says they want him, he will go. I think this is the deal of January, after Semenyo to Man City. Guehi can be the biggest deal of the Premier League in this window.”
City's need for defensive cover intensified last weekend when Gvardiol suffered a broken leg and Dias sustained a hamstring injury in the Premier League draw against Chelsea.
