Liverpool looks set to miss out on Marc Guehi, with Manchester City now seemingly in pole position to sign the Crystal Palace captain.

City has reportedly made big progress on a deal to sign the England international over the last 24 hours, with a bid of $40 million said to be imminent.

That would represent good business for Palace, considering the player's contract at Selhurst Park is set to expire at the end of the season.

Guehi is a defender in demand at the moment, with a number of top clubs in England and abroad keen on signing the defender in 2026.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are among the clubs to have been linked with the Guehi, but most of the interested parties were expected to wait until the end of the season to try and convince the 25-year-old that theirs was the right club to join.

However, City's need for a new center-back intensified earlier this month when Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias sustained significant injuries.

City is not expected to have any issues reaching an agreement with Palace or Guehi, who is said to be happy with the personal terms on offer at the Etihad Stadium.
