Martin Zubimendi missing from Arsenal training as Mikel Arteta injury concern emerges

10 hours ago 1

Martin Zubimendi was missing from Arsenal training on Tuesday morning as Mikel Arteta welcomed back his squad from a couple of days off. The Arsenal manager had awarded his side with some respite after their win over Wolves.

However, the Spanish midfielder, who was replaced in the second half against the side at the bottom of the Premier League, was not spotted by the media in attendance for the open training session for broadcasters.

It is reported that Zubimendi was doing some work inside, as his load is managed. Zubimendi is among the most-used players in the group, and after Ben White suffered a hamstring injury against Wolves after starting four games in ten days, it makes sense that the club are being cautious.

Neither Kai Havertz nor Gabriel Magalhaes were spotted with the group as they, alongside Max Dowman and Cristhian Mosquera, continued their rehabilitation work after suffering further injuries.

This is the first midweek off from action Arsenal have enjoyed since the week commencing August 25. Three international breaks have passed in that time but the majority of the group were involved for their respective nations playing in as many as two fixtures during those weeks, some, like Piero Hincapie, travelling immense distances in the process.

Arsenal’s next match sees them travel to Everton looking to improve their away record which sees them winless in the league in three matches, their last victory on the road coming on November 1 at Burnley.

It could also be that they will be second in the table come kick-off, should Manchester City manage to beat West Ham at the Etihad Stadium earlier on the Saturday afternoon.
