Martindale has Livingston owner's 'full support'

Livingston chairman Calvin Ford insists manager David Martindale has his "full support" despite the club's struggles this season.

The West Lothian outfit are rooted to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership with just nine points from 20 matches.

Their only win of the league campaign came almost five months ago when they beat Falkirk 3-1 at home.

Martindale's side have lost their past four games, but were unfortunate not to take anything away from Tynecastle last time out as they pushed league-leaders Hearts all the way.

The 51-year-old has been Livingston manager since December 2020, having previously worked for the club in various other roles, while Ford became majority shareholder and chairman in May 2025.

"When the opportunity to invest in Livingston came to me many months ago, the first person I met at the club was David Martindale," the American said in a statement.

"During our first call, I could tell that his passion and loyalty for Livingston FC was beyond the scope of anything I had ever seen before in sport.

"Despite the incredible challenges we have faced this season thus far, Davie's attitude, and the demeanour of his staff, have remained both positive and optimistic.

"Davie is a leader, and will continue to be the leader of this football club. He, and his staff, have my full support."

Ford admits results have fallen below expectations this season, but believes "continuity" is the best way to escape their predicament.

"There is no excuse for our poor record, and I want to recognise the anger, frustration, and disappointment that our play has created for our incredible fanbase, our dedicated staff, and amazing volunteers," he said. "You deserve better, and that falls on my shoulders first.

"I did not come into this club to hire and fire managers. I have seen the toxicity and chaos that can bring to a team and to the community.

"I am here to build something sustainable that can only be accomplished by continuity, and not making harsh, unprepared, impulsive decisions."

Livingston host St Mirren on Tuesday, knowing a much-needed win would take them within one point of Kilmarnock in 11th.
